If God really cares about injustice, why isn’t he doing something?
God may be hearing my prayers but he sure isn’t responding.
If God is actually doing something, I sure don’t understand it.
If you’ve ever had thoughts or questions similar to these, you’re not alone. The Old Testament prophet Habakkuk is recorded as saying and thinking things just like this. Unlike other prophets that spoke for God to the people, Habakkuk vented to God about what he saw. This may be one of those books you’ve read once in your lifetime or maybe have skipped over entirely, but it’s one that provides a perspective on God and the world we live in that is essential to understand. Over the next three weeks, starting this Sunday, we’ll be exploring the themes of Habakkuk together and I trust that what happened with Habakkuk in his conversation with God will also happen with us.
