Faith and Race Resources
In America, the church has historically been complicit in racism. The roots of many of the biggest religious denominations were firmly planted in the sin of slavery and in many ways those roots are still alive today. As a diverse church family we want our roots to be firmly planted in the Gospel of Jesus which is clearly opposed to racism, bigotry, and prejudice of any kind. The following resources are meant to be an aid to both help expose ungodly beliefs and behaviors and also give a way toward greater Gospel faithfulness.
Each resource below is rooted in a Christian perspective of humanity, sin, and the redemptive work of Jesus. While we may not fully align with every word written or uttered, we do recommend them as helpful resources to equip you on the very real issue of racism that is still prevalent in our American culture.
In October of 2022 we hosted a seminar called Civil Righteousness with speaker J.T. Thomas.
You can watch the entirety of that seminar here. If you prefer podcast then search ‘Sunset Community Church’ and you can listen to just the audio.
